Whether you’re new to SEO or want to expand your skill set, learning from a high-quality source is essential. Trouble is that there are so many so-called ‘experts’ out there. Knowing who the real experts are can be difficult to figure out.
Following over 20 years’ in the industry, we have a few good recommendations in mind (and don’t worry, they don’t include us).
This article is not a self-promotional piece. It’s for anyone wanting to learn good SEO from real experts – the kind of SEO that uses proven, data-backed, Google-friendly techniques and tricks that were discovered through experience.
Here some great places to learn SEO:
Matthew Woodward
Matthew Woodward is an internet marketer and blogger who specialises in SEO. He’s busy (always a good sign) and publishes case studies here.
The beauty of Matthew Woodward is he deconstructs his case studies so you can see the work that went into them. He either produces a video or writes the strategy down. He then shows off the results with screenshots to prove his work.
From e-commerce stores producing 3x revenue to 300% increases in organic traffic, Matthew’s results are astonishing. It’s no exaggeration to say he has transformed hundreds of online businesses from strugglers to winners.
Another reason you should listen to Matthew is he simplifies SEO with eloquence. A good example of this can be found in his SEO glossary. His detailed tutorials and case studies are proof that he is a true expert. You can trust his advice.
Nathan Gotch
Nathan Gotch is the founder of Gotch SEO, an SEO training academy based in St. Louis, Missouri. His academy has helped hundreds of people transform their online business with proven SEO techniques that achieve long-term results.
Nathan has an SEO blog that offers free advice and tips. Like Matthew Woodward, he also publishes case studies with a breakdown of the work done and results. These are incredibly useful for getting ideas for your own SEO strategy.
The real value of Nathan Gotch comes through his academy, through which you will learn how to double the traffic to any website.
The proof in the pudding here is who turns to Nathan when things aren’t working – these people tend to be so-called ‘SEO experts’ themselves. This level of acknowledgement from the SEO community is hard to come by. Nathan has earned it.
Neil Patel
Neil offers a range of digital marketing training courses that focus on SEO. His courses are well-respected with plenty of social proof. A good place to start is SEO Unlocked. This course is 100% free with worksheets and videos.
Neil also has a fantastic blog with hundreds of articles covering every aspect of SEO, from getting Google to index your website quickly to how to perform a technical SEO audit. If you want a quick read one afternoon, you’ll find one here.
Overall, Neil is an extremely well-respected digital marketer who has launched, grown and sold successful businesses for over a decade. His advice is golden.
Don’t waste your time with bad advice
Lastly, a few words of warning: bad SEO can destroy a business overnight. If you intend to achieve great results, you need to follow great advice.
Matthew Woodward, Nathan Gotch and Neil Patel are great places to start. These professionals have authority in the marketing community. If you only followed their advice, you would still be ahead of 99% of marketing departments. If you want to subcontract the work then look no further than the Leeds SEO Agency for great value and fantastic results
